Wild Oats has announced the launch of a new initiative to encourage customers to pay for an extra item in their basket and give back to the local community.
The store, based in Bristol, has begun introduced its Buy 2 Take 1 initiative that encourages customers to pay for an extra item in their basket when they do their shopping in-store. Then Wild Oats donates all the products bought to a local charity on the customer’s behalf.
When a customer is at the till, they let a Wild Oats team member know they’re happy to pay for another item in your basket, they will then be charged for the item, then it will be donated to a local charity. Initially, the team thought of just food and drink, such as coffee, tea, tinned food, pasta, but then realised how a donation of something like moisturiser or even baby nappies could make a difference to someone.
Commenting on the initiative, Mike Abrahams, founder of Wild Oats, said: “At Wild Oats, we have always been committed to helping our local community and it is fitting that as we approach our 40th year, we are introducing our ‘Buy 2 take 1’ initiative.
This is designed so that our loyal base of customers can double up their shopping and we will donate the extra items on their behalf to one of our chosen charities, allowing everyone access to great quality, ethical and sustainable products which will help both the mind and body and creating a healthy you inside and out.”
