The Health Food Manufacturers’ Association (HFMA) has announced Jenny Carson will take a lead role at CLEAR CHECK as the organisation is also named a Living Wage Employer.
Jenny Carson has been promoted to Regulatory Advisor and Team Leader. Her wealth of knowledge, dedication and commitment perfectly positions her to support her team and to guide brands using the CLEAR CHECK services, which is the regulatory and compliance arm of the HFMA that helps members and non-member produce compliant labels and marketing materials.
Pippa Williams, Operations and HR Manager, commented: “At HFMA, we believe that our employees and advisers are our best assets. We are committed to creating a supportive environment where each individual can thrive and advance in their career. Through continuous learning opportunities and clear career pathways, we ensure that all our team members are equipped with the tools they need to achieve their professional goals. At HFMA we recognise that we are a product of our people, and they are at the heart of everything we do. We will continue to develop a culture of excellence to provide our members with the best service.”
Jenny added: “I am delighted to be promoted to Team Leader of the CLEAR CHECK team. The team have a vast depth of experience and knowledge in the regulations associated with health foods, which I hope to draw from and develop the CLEAR CHECK offerings over my time in this role. I look forward to engaging further with member companies and I encourage any company in the health foods industry to contact us with their queries, or issues besides submitting marketing copy for a compliance review.”
Jenny will be ably supported by Gwyneth Massey, Regulatory Adviser/Code Administrator, who has extensive knowledge and experience of regulatory issues, having spent over 30 years with the HFMA. They will be joined by a new Associate Advisor.
Martin Last, HFMA Director General, added: “We are extremely pleased at Jenny’s enthusiasm in managing CLEAR CHECK as she is clearly demonstrating her depth of knowledge and experience to the CLEAR CHECK team and members. Not only does she show strong leadership properties but with the current recruitment of the new Associate Advisor, Jenny will help bring the team back to full capacity with a positive and motivating attitude.”
The news comes as the HFMA has become accredited as a Living Wage Employer, which ensures employees are paid fairly, reflecting the real cost of living in London. This commitment will see everyone working at the HFMA receive a minimum hourly wage significantly higher than the government minimum for over 21s.
The HFMA is based in the London area, a region where 13.3 per cent of all jobs pay less than the real Living Wage – that’s 574,000 jobs. The HFMA have committed to pay the real Living Wage and deliver a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work.
Pippa added: “We are excited to announce that HFMA is now accredited as a Living Wage Employer. This commitment ensures that our employees are paid fairly, reflecting the real cost of living in London. It’s a positive step towards improving financial wellbeing and quality of life for all HFMA employees. We are all very proud to be a part of this important movement and demonstrate commitment to our highly valued staff.”
Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation went on: “We’re delighted that the HFMA has joined the movement of over 14,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on. They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Everton Football Club and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like the HFMA, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.”
