Julie Goodwin has sold one of her two popular stores to allow her to focus on her original shop.
Julie owned Natural Health in the Hertfordshire towns of Hertford and in Welwyn Garden City, but she has taken the decision to sell Welwyn, which was the second store she added to the portfolio back in 2004.
Julie told Health Food Business: “I’ve been thinking of selling one shop for a while now as the amount of administration and costs have been increasing so much since the pandemic. I was only looking to sell one shop – I think selling both would have been too much of a shock to my system. I just missed being able to concentrate on one premises and being able to be in the shop more
often.”
Speaking of the Hertford shop, which also has an active therapy centre above, Julie added: “We have been planning a bit of a revamp and already have completely moved the stock around and are looking to take on more unique ranges such as gifts and spiritual goods, which are starting to filter in to gauge customer reaction – so far, it has been very positive and we have had to reorder on quite a few lines. Having one shop means that the expenses and general workload has plummeted. Trade is starting to pick up and we are doing ok so far.”
